All Different, All Equal

The project "All Different, All Equal" intends to encourage the creation of an inclusive culture, policy and practice in elementary schools in Vojvodina, in order to allow equal participation in education of all children, regardless of their gender, disability, social or ethnic origin. The project contributes to the creation of a favorable, non-discriminatory and tolerant environment in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, with respect for diversity and other cultures, language, socio-economic background, ethnicity, religion and identity.
Inclusive education means equal respect and acceptance of all pupils, encouraging their participation, reducing barriers to education and fostering diversity. The values of tolerance, equality and respect for diversity should be integrated into a system of primary education. If primary schools would become truly inclusive, they will provide students and their parents important lessons about how to live together and to respect and accept others who are different, especially those who are vulnerable because of their disability, poverty, gender, nationality, identity, religion, etc.
Through this project capacities of young people will be improved, and educational institutions and local communities will be strengthened to understand and accept diversity as a resource. Particular attention will be focused on the rights of minorities and vulnerable groups and individuals, along with training and information activities to reduce prejudices and stereotypes, and prevent any form of discrimination in education.

The main activities planned in this project are:
A. Research, analysis and planning in schools
B. Capacity building activities to improve awareness of the importance of inclusion
C. Advocacy / presentation and exchange of experiences and networking between the schools

The main target group of this project are 180 pupils and their parents, and 30 school staff members, in the target schools: primary schools ''Zarko Zrenjanin'' in Apatin, ''Samu Mihalj" in Becej, and "Vuk Karadzic" in Novi Sad. Also, a group of 15 young people from Novi Sad participates in the project as part of forum theater activities.
The project is being implemented by Novi Sad Humanitarian Centre in partnership with the primary schools "Zarko Zrenjanin" in Apatin and "Samu Mihalj" in Becej. Provincial Secretariat of Education, Administration, and National Communities is the associate in this project.

The project has been started in June 2011 and will last for 12 months.
